A Mother-Daughter Escape Into Nature
Traveling with my mother has always been special, but this recent trip was truly unforgettable. I, Sreosi Pal, was looking for a destination where we could unwind peacefully amidst nature. What we found was a place that felt like a hidden gem—serene, picturesque, and melodious.
Though our stay had some challenges, the overall journey was filled with warmth, bonding, and unique local experiences.
Why We Chose This Destination
came across this place while searching on the Izifiso website. Initially, I had picked Rongo, but Deblina from Izifiso suggested this location instead. And I must say, it turned out to be the perfect choice for what we were looking for—a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.

First Impressions: Location vs. Stay
The location itself was awesome and peaceful—exactly what we wanted. However, the room we stayed in was small and clumsy. The absence of a proper mattress made it difficult to sleep, and even the bathroom felt cramped.
For two people, the room was not adequate, and given the cost of the trip, the accommodation felt expensive for its standard.
On the brighter side, the food was excellent—freshly prepared, homely, and delicious. The homestay staff were very friendly and helpful, which made up for the shortcomings of the room.

Favorite Moments by the River
The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the Chumang River. My mornings started with a peaceful walk along its banks, soaking in the calmness of nature. One of the most memorable experiences was bathing in the river with my mother—it felt refreshing and joyful.
We also spent time playing with local children near the river, which brought an innocent, happy touch to our stay.
Weather Surprises
Although I expected clear skies during our trip, the weather had other plans. From the second day evening, it started raining continuously. At first, it felt disappointing, but soon we began to enjoy the cozy and dramatic atmosphere that the rains created. Sometimes, unexpected weather brings its own charm.

Tasting Local Flavors
One of the unique food experiences was eating small river fish fries (trout fish). The taste was simply amazing and something I’ll always remember about this trip. If you’re a foodie, this is a must-try!

Recommended Activities for Future Travelers
This location is a visual treat for anyone who loves nature and photography. For the adventurous, I’d recommend:
- River trekking to Dawai Khola and Chumang Khola
- Forest hiking for a dose of greenery and wildlife
These activities allow you to experience the raw beauty of the area up close.
Travel Tips for This Location
Don’t rely on mobile network—connectivity is very poor.
Best time to visit is just after the rainy season, when the river current is low and safe for bathing, and the weather is pleasant.Carry light but comfortable clothes and footwear for river and forest activities
In Three Words

Final Thoughts
Traveling with my mother to this peaceful riverside retreat was more than just a trip—it was an experience of togetherness, simplicity, and bonding with nature. While the accommodation could have been better, the beauty of the place, the friendliness of the people, and the food made it a memorable getaway.
Sometimes, a journey doesn’t have to be perfect to be unforgettable—it just needs to be shared with someone special.
