I’m Indranil, and just a week ago, I returned from one of the most memorable journeys of my life — an 8-day road trip through Kerala and Tamil Nadu with my family. 🛣️ This adventure was a perfect mix of nature, culture, and thrill — truly the “Daakshinatyar Dour” (Run to the South) I had been dreaming of!
🌄 From Mudumalai to Mysore via Ooty & Wayanad – The Adventure Begins
Our unforgettable journey started in Mudumalai, surrounded by dense forests and wildlife. Driving through the winding roads of Ooty, the Queen of Hills, we were greeted by tea gardens, misty valleys, and cool mountain air.
Next came Wayanad, where the adventure truly began! Off-road drives, glass bridges, zip lining, and zip cycling — every moment was packed with thrill and excitement. The mist-covered hills, lush green valleys, and sparkling waterfalls made Wayanad a dream come true for every nature lover and adventure seeker.
Finally, our road trip led us to Mysore, the royal city that beautifully wrapped up our South India journey with its cultural charm and heritage vibes.
🏞️ Ooty – Chilling in the Queen of Hills
Next, we headed to Ooty, and honestly, we weren’t prepared for the cold! 😅 We didn’t pack enough warm clothes, but the beauty of the Nilgiris made us forget all discomfort. Waking up to the fog-covered tea gardens and sipping hot coffee in the chilly breeze — it was surreal!
🍽️ A Taste of South India
Food was another highlight of the trip. From hot idlis and vadas in roadside cafés to authentic dosas served on banana leaves, every meal was a delicious reminder of the region’s rich culinary heritage. The flavors of South India — light, spicy, and soulful — are still fresh on my taste buds!
🚗 Seamless Stay & Smooth Ride
A special mention goes to our driver and the stays — both were simply amazing! The hospitality in every homestay and hotel made us feel at home, and our driver’s local knowledge turned every drive into a story.
💸 Travel Tip
Inter-state charges were slightly high between Kerala and Tamil Nadu, but the scenic routes, adventure activities, and happy faces in my family made every penny worth it!

This trip gave me memories I’ll cherish forever — from the rolling hills of Ooty to the wild charm of Wayanad. South India truly has a rhythm of its own — peaceful, powerful, and pure.
And yes, I’ll surely return, answering the eternal call of the South. ❤️
