Four travelers – two girls and a couple – set out to uncover the hidden gems of North Bengal.
I’m Trishita Bera, and my travel gang includes Avi Raj Sarkar, Sangita Das, and Sonia Das — together, we make one awesome team!
The journey turned into a blend of treks, local flavors, and unforgettable adventures. Beyond the landscapes and experiences, what we truly discovered was how travel made our bond of friendship even stronger.

-we’re the four musketeers
Our inspiration came from an unfinished dream. In our previous trip to Aahl–Sandakphu,we had missed the view of the Sleeping Buddha. This time, Dhotrey called us with its promise of majestic mountain views, and we couldn’t resist.

In Dhotrey: The morning view of Kanchenjunga left us speechless. From the watchtower, we soaked in a 360° panorama stretching from Sandakphu to Phalut, with the Sleeping Buddha watching over us. Sunset from the same spot was pure magic.
In Bijanbari: Nights came alive by the poolside, where the glittering lights of Darjeeling town sparkled below us. Surrounded by nature, we felt what true peace really means.

Our bijanbari stay
One of the most unexpected – yet thrilling – parts of our trip was the sudden off-roading adventure to reach Bijanbari Homestay. It’s not for the faint-hearted, but for adventure lovers, it’s an absolute thrill.
A Taste of the Hills
Food was a journey of its own:
Guras wine, made from rhododendron flowers, bought from Maneybhanjan.Flavorful soups and homestyle dishes at Bijanbari.A sweet surprise: rasgulla in the hills!
And on Dussehra, we were treated to sel roti, a traditional festive delight.

Trek from Dhotrey to Tonglu along adventurous trails.
Climb up to the Dhotrey Watchtower for an unmatched panorama of Sandakphu, Phalut, and the Sleeping Buddha.
Take a dip in the pool at Bijanbari Farmstay, with majestic mountains framing the background – the kind of moment that makes you say, “Zindagi me jio to aise jio.”

Travel Tip:
Don’t just pass through – pause, explore, and talk to the locals. Every conversation opens a new window into their culture, and every moment deepens your love for the hills.

In Three Words: If we had to describe this journey: Shukh, Shanti, and Eternal Love for Pahad.
