Winter has finally arrived in Kolkata! And what’s a winter without a short trip to somewhere calm and beautiful?
So, this time we decided to explore a new destination — Banduan Eco Stay, a serene retreat nestled at the foothills of Bhalu Pahar in Purulia district.
Getting There
We boarded an early morning train from Kolkata to Tatanagar Junction.
From there, we took a pre-booked cab that drove us through scenic countryside roads to reach Banduan Eco Stay.
As we arrived, the first thing that caught our eyes was the tranquil lake beside the property and the peaceful surroundings — truly a nature lover’s paradise.
Lunch
A Traditional Bengali Lunch
After a warm welcome, we freshened up and enjoyed a hearty home-style Bengali lunch:
Rice, dal, fried vegetables, alu posto, fish curry, chutney, papad, and sweets.
Simple, delicious, and absolutely satisfying!
Sunset at Bhalu Dungri Hills
Post lunch, we set out to explore the area and headed towards Bhalu Dungri Hill, just behind the stay, to watch the sunset.
As the sun dipped behind the hills, the entire sky turned golden — a mesmerizing view worth capturing!
Evenings by the Lake
By the time we returned, dusk had settled in. We spent the evening sipping hot tea by the lake, feeling the cool winter breeze brush against our faces.
Soon, steaming hot momos arrived — and honestly, who can resist momos on a chilly evening?
Campfire, Music & Barbecue
As night fell, the much-awaited campfire began!
There was music, laughter, and sizzling barbecue chicken to go with the warmth of the fire.
The evening was nothing short of magical — pure joy under the open sky.
The Next Morning
The next day started with a peaceful breakfast overlooking the lake before we packed up for our return journey to Kolkata.
It was just a one-day trip, but it felt like a complete refresh for the mind and soul.
